Key points
KVIRC is probably the optimal IRC client for a customizer, and on top of letting you customize basically everything in the interface, it features a powerful scripting language to let you override the default behaviors and even implement your own protocol extensions. (It’s still nice enough for a casual user as well, but you might get overwhelmed by the amount of options you have if you prefer keeping things simple!)
KVIRC, like all of our core clients, runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
Not your thing?
- If you want another power user option with a less-enormous array of configuration menus, try Hexchat.
- If you miss the feel of retro chatrooms, check out Ambassador.
- If you want an interface that’s much more streamlined at the cost of a bit of configurability, Quassel is worth a try.
